At the 11th Annual Hispanic Women of Distinction Luncheon on Aug. 17, Nelly Rubio, Director of Community Relations for WFOR-TV/CBS4 and WBFS/myTV33 Miami since 1989, was named “Latina Pioneer of the Year for 2012. “ This prestigious award honors a Hispanic-American woman who has successfully intertwined her cultural traditions and values in combination with her American entrepr
eneurship, paving the way for other Latinas to achieve their personal goals. In the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Rubio founded the station's “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” disaster relief program.
