CBS participated in the 103rd NAACP Convention in Houston (July 7-12t103rd NAACP Conventionh). At the 11th Annual Hispanic Women of Distinction Luncheon on Aug. 17, Nelly Rubio, Director of Community Relations for WFOR-TV/CBS4 and WBFS/
myTV33 Miami since 1989, was named “Latina Pioneer of the Year for 2012. “ This prestigious award honors a Hispanic-American woman who has successfully intertwined her cultural traditions and values in combination with her American entreprNelly Rubioeneurship, paving the way for other Latinas to achieve their personal goals. In the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Rubio founded the station's “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” disaster relief program.  The project evolved into what is now “Neighbors 4 Neighbors,” a non-profit organization housed at CBS4 that links people in need with those willing to help.   In photo: {r}Nelly Rubio


 



On July 31st SHOWTIME  Network was among those recognized at the first annual DANDI Awards (The Diversity and Inclusion Awards) for their exemplary commitment and focus on diversity and inclusion.
