2012 NABJ CONFERENCE
In June, CBS participated in the 2012 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention in New Orleans from June 20-24. A number of CBS News correspondents and executives participated in panels including CBS News Correspondent Mic
helle Miller, CBS News Director of Development and Diversity Crystal Johns, CBS News Vice President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, CBS News Correspondent Randall Pinkston and 60 Minutes Correspondent and CBS News Chief National Correspondent Byron Pitts.
Additionally, CBS Vice President of Diversity & Communications Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i and Harold Bryant, Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports, participated in entertainment and sports panels.
CBS News sponsored the NABJ Press Room, the convention’s stop for journalists covering the conference and career fair. CBS Sports Network presented “1st & Goal In The Bronx: Grambling Vs. Morgan State 1968,” a documentary about the landmark match between Grambling State University and Morgan State University, followed by a panel with Brian Davis Producer, Features and Original Programming, CBS Sports Network.

At the career fair and expo, executives from CBS News and CBS Sports met with potential candidates, screening their reels and providing career advice. Michelle Miller also co-hosted the NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards Gala, NABJ’s annual tribute to exceptional work in journalism. CBS News won the most awards of the evening in the Television Network category with 6 out of 13 Salute to Excellence Awards, as well as an award in the Television Market 16+, giving a total of seven wins.
